NYSC Kwara orientation camp relocated from Yikpata to Ilorin Polytechnic over insecurity, with security forces to protect corps members

The development comes amid repeated attacks by armed bandits in communities across Edu and Patigi local government areas in the Kwara North Senatorial District.

Confirming the move on Thursday, the NYSC Kwara State Coordinator, Onifade Olaoluwa Joshua, said the decision was approved by the state government after concerns were raised over corps members’ safety.

“The decision became necessary after security concerns were raised by perpetrators and enemies of progress,” he said, adding that soldiers and other security personnel will be deployed to safeguard participants during the three-week orientation course.

Onifade assured prospective corps members of their safety, noting that all arrangements for welfare and logistics had been made. “We are fully prepared to host the orientation course and the welfare of participants will be safeguarded,” he emphasised.

According to him, corps members are expected to report between 24 September and 14 October 2025. A delegation from NYSC headquarters is also scheduled to inspect the temporary venue at Kwara Polytechnic.
