Ondo State Police arrest 49-year-old Azeez Lamidi for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl and inducing her abortion through drugs

Ondo State Police have arrested a 49-year-old man, Azeez Lamidi, for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl and inducing her abortion with drugs in Ogbagi-Akoko.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Thursday, noting that the incident was first reported on October 9, 2025, by one Salami, the victim’s father, at the Ogbagi Police Station.

According to Ayanlade, the complainant raised the alarm after discovering his daughter was bleeding profusely from her private part while attempting to defecate.

“The victim was rushed to the nearest hospital in Ogbagi-Akoko, where medical personnel confirmed that she had undergone a drug-induced abortion,” Ayanlade said.

He explained that during police interrogation, the teenager disclosed that the suspect had sexually abused her repeatedly, and upon learning she was pregnant, he allegedly administered drugs that caused the abortion.

The victim has since been transferred to the State Specialist Hospital, Igbatoro, for comprehensive medical care, while the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.

Ayanlade added that Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, has ordered the case to be transferred to the command’s gender unit for a discreet and thorough investigation.

The Commissioner condemned the rising cases of child sexual abuse in the state and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring justice for victims.

“The command will not hesitate to bring the full weight of the law upon anyone found culpable,” Ayanlade warned.
