Oyo Police Armed Robbery Arrest sees three suspects and a kidnapping suspect detained in Ibadan and nearby areas during coordinated operations

The Oyo State Police Command in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Tuesday confirmed the arrest of three suspected armed robbers and one suspected kidnapper during separate operations conducted across the state capital and adjoining communities.

The Oyo Police Armed Robbery Arrest was disclosed by the Command Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan.

He explained that the arrests were made following routine patrols and intelligence led operations carried out by officers of the command.

According to Olayinka Ayanlade, the three suspected armed robbers were apprehended on Monday by operatives attached to the Bodija Market Division while conducting a stop and search operation along Awolowo Road in Bodija.

The suspects were intercepted while riding a Bajaj motorcycle with registration number BDJ 386 QH.

The suspects were identified as Godwin Cletus, aged 26, who was said to be riding the motorcycle, alongside Adedokun Isah, aged 17, and Rafiu Usman, aged 19.

The three individuals are residents of the Gbaremu area of Ibadan. Ayanlade noted that a toy pistol was recovered from them, adding that investigations are ongoing to determine their level of involvement in criminal activities.

In a separate development, the police command also confirmed the arrest of one Taye Adamu in connection with a series of kidnapping incidents in the area.

Ayanlade stated that the suspect was apprehended on 5 April 2026 at Iluju Village by operatives of the Ikoyi Ile Division following credible intelligence and sustained surveillance.

The police spokesperson further disclosed that Taye Adamu is believed to be linked to a wider criminal network, noting that some members of the syndicate had previously been arrested on 4 April 2026.

He added that efforts are continuing to track other suspected accomplices.
