Petrol price hike Nigeria: Filling stations increase pump prices to N970/L as Dangote Refinery and depot owners raise ex-depot rates due to forex, crude cost

Petrol Price Hike Nigeria continues to bite harder as pump prices jumped across Abuja on Saturday, following upward adjustments in ex-depot prices by Dangote Refinery and other major depots.

At Empire Energy and Ranoil filling stations in Gwarimpa, prices surged to N935 and N970 per litre, respectively—up from N905 and N900 recorded just the night before.

Chinedu Ukadike, spokesman for the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), confirmed that the increases stem from the suppliers’ end.

“The supplying depots and Dangote Refinery have increased their ex-depot petrol prices,” Ukadike said.

He revealed Dangote’s ex-depot rate rose to N858/L from N820, while NIPCO, Aiteo, and Ranoil now charge N870, N855, and N855 per litre respectively.

Ukadike attributed the changes to foreign exchange volatility and global crude oil prices.

Despite the hike, NNPC Retail, MRS, Optima, and AP Ardova stations in Abuja maintained lower prices between N885 and N890 per litre as of Saturday morning.

Interestingly, global crude prices fell slightly, with Brent at $69.67 and WTI at $67.33, according to oilprice.com.

This latest increase adds more pressure to Nigeria’s inflation-weary consumers and highlights ongoing instability in the fuel supply chain—even with domestic refining now underway.
