TETFund Centre of Excellence trains 50 youth and women in poultry training in Bauchi, aiming to empower participants with skills for broiler chicken production

The TETFund Centre of Excellence for Integrated Farming System has launched poultry training in Bauchi, empowering 50 youth and women with skills in broiler chicken production.

Dr Abdullahi Muhammad, Director of the centre at the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, said the five-day training was aimed at helping participants develop income-generating capacity amid economic hardship.

“This will give them return on investment within eight weeks,” he explained. “They can dispose their birds and restock. The goal is to turn job seekers into employers of labour.”

He added that the programme would soon expand to reach other states in the Northeast.

Mr Shamsu Abdu, Head of the Mass Communication Department, described the training as part of the institution’s Corporate Social Responsibility. “It’s time we looked inward and embraced self-reliance,” he noted.

Dr Musa Adamu, Coordinator of the World Bank-supported L-PRES Project, urged participants to seize the opportunity, highlighting the importance of livestock value chains in the region’s development.

Rector of the institution, Alhaji Sani Usman, praised TETFund for establishing the centre and called for wider mobilisation to encourage more participation.
