President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Professor Mobolaji Aluko on his 70th birthday, celebrating his contributions to education, engineering, and democracy

 

President Bola Tinubu has extended heartfelt congratulations to Professor Mobolaji Aluko, the pioneering Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Otuoke in Bayelsa State, as he marks his 70th birthday.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu expressed admiration for the professor’s extraordinary contributions to education, engineering, democracy, and national development.

In his message, President Tinubu joined family, friends, and well-wishers in celebrating the esteemed academic and engineer.

He commended Professor Aluko for his lifelong dedication to national growth and his role in shaping the future of Nigerian education and engineering.

“President Tinubu fondly recalls Professor Aluko’s pivotal role, alongside fellow Nigerian exiles in the United States, in the pro-democracy movement and his insightful contributions to national discourse,” the statement read.

Professor Aluko, a renowned professor of chemical engineering, has had an illustrious career, which includes serving as Chair of the Chemical Engineering Department at Howard University in Washington, D.C.

His significant academic achievements in the United States led him to return to Nigeria, where he focused on contributing to the country’s development.

Tinubu also acknowledged Professor Aluko’s tenure as Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Otuoke, where he laid a strong foundation for the institution, which continues to thrive today.

The president praised his unwavering commitment to the advancement of education and community development in Nigeria.

In addition to his academic and administrative roles, Professor Aluko served as Director-General of the Office of Transformation and Service Delivery (OTSD) in Ekiti State between 2019 and 2022.

He also briefly held the position of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Utilities before becoming the Infrastructure and Public Utilities Commissioner under Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

As he celebrates this significant milestone, President Tinubu offered prayers for Professor Aluko, asking for continued strength, wisdom, and good health to enable him to continue his invaluable service to Nigeria and humanity.
