PSG beat Bayern Munich 5-4 in a record-breaking Champions League semi-final first leg filled with goals, drama, and late twists

Paris Saint-Germain produced a sensational 5-4 victory over Bayern Munich in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final on Tuesday, in a breathtaking encounter widely described as one of the greatest in the competition’s history.

The nine-goal thriller at the Parc des Princes featured a relentless exchange of attacking football, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Ousmane Dembélé each scoring twice as PSG seized a narrow advantage ahead of the return leg in Germany.

Bayern Munich struck first through Harry Kane, who converted from the penalty spot after an early foul inside the box.

However, PSG responded swiftly, with Kvaratskhelia levelling the score before JoĂŁo Neves put the hosts ahead with a well-timed header.

Michael Olise restored parity for Bayern in a fast-paced first half that also saw Dembélé convert a penalty in stoppage time to give PSG a 3-2 lead at the break.

The second half maintained the same intensity, with Kvaratskhelia and Dembélé striking again to stretch PSG’s lead to 5-2, leaving the German champions stunned.

Bayern, however, refused to collapse. Dayot Upamecano reduced the deficit with a header from a set-piece, before Luis DĂ­az added a fourth to keep the contest alive heading into the closing stages.

Despite late pressure from Bayern, including a near miss that struck the crossbar, PSG held on to secure a famous victory in a match that delivered constant attacking drama and shifting momentum.

The result leaves the tie finely balanced ahead of the second leg at the Allianz Arena, where Bayern Munich will attempt to overturn the narrow deficit to reach the final in Budapest.

PSG, meanwhile, remain in strong contention to defend their European crown after a commanding offensive display that underlined their attacking depth and confidence.
