Super Falcons defender Rofiat Imuran could soon share a dressing room with two-time Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas, after reports claimed the Barcelona legend has agreed personal terms with Women’s Super League side London City Lionesses.

Putellas recently ended a remarkable 14-year spell at Barcelona, where she rose from academy prospect to global superstar and became one of the most decorated figures in women’s football.

The Spanish midfielder is now expected to begin a new chapter in England, with London City Lionesses emerging as strong favourites to complete the deal.

If finalised, the move would see Imuran become a teammate of one of the greatest players in the modern women’s game, marking a significant moment in her club career.

The Nigerian defender would also become the second Super Falcons player to feature alongside Putellas, following Asisat Oshoala’s successful spell with the Barcelona star at the Spanish club.

Oshoala and Putellas previously shared the pitch during the Nigerian forward’s five-year stay at Barcelona, forming part of a dominant era for the Catalan side.

Reports suggest Putellas turned down interest from several elite clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United, as well as offers from Saudi Arabia and other regions.

She is believed to have prioritised a move that would keep her outside direct competition with Barcelona, paving the way for a switch to the London-based club.

London City Lionesses, owned by billionaire Michele Kang, completed their first Women’s Super League season strongly and finished sixth in the standings.

The potential arrival of Putellas would represent a major statement of intent and significantly boost the club’s profile ahead of the new campaign.
