Ruben Amorim, the Portuguese coach and former Manchester United manager, is reportedly set to return to Benfica as head coach in a surprise managerial development ahead of the summer window.

According to Goal, the 41-year-old is in line to replace Jose Mourinho at SL Benfica following his departure from Old Trafford earlier this year.

Amorim has been out of work since his dismissal by Manchester United in January, ending a brief and difficult spell in the Premier League.

Despite his struggles in England, Amorim’s reputation in Portugal remains strong, largely due to his successful managerial period with Sporting CP, where he built a winning and disciplined squad.
