Akpoti-Uduaghan, suspended in March 2025 over alleged misconduct, has insisted that a Federal High Court ruling nullified the action.

However, Okolugbo refuted her claim, clarifying that the court did not explicitly reinstate her.

He pointed to Ground 23 of her appeal, noting the judge found the suspension “excessive,” but never overturned it.

All she needed to do was apologise, and the suspension would have been lifted. Even the Brekete Family advised her, but she refused.

Her attempt to re-enter the chamber on July 22 was branded a “media stunt,” with cameras and supporters in tow. Okolugbo emphasized that the Senate chamber is governed by rules, not theatrics.

He also warned that this ongoing saga could harm women’s political credibility, stating, “Twisting facts for political mileage undermines the push for gender representation.”
