Seven Doors shines at BON Awards in Lagos, winning four major categories as Farmers Bride clinches Movie and Director of the Year

Femi Adebayo’s hit series Seven Doors on Friday dominated the 17th edition of the Best of Nollywood Awards in Lagos, as the ceremony celebrated outstanding achievements in Nigerian cinema at the National Theatre.

The Lagos edition of the BON Awards brought together leading figures from across the film industry, with drama Farmers Bride emerging as the night’s most prestigious winner, claiming both Movie of the Year and Director of the Year honours.

While Farmers Bride secured the top prizes, Seven Doors proved to be the most prolific winner of the evening, sweeping four major technical categories in a powerful display of production excellence.

Femi Adebayo’s series won awards for Best Production Design, Best Special Effect, Best Series and Best Cinematography, underscoring the growing recognition of high technical standards in Nollywood storytelling.

The acting categories delivered standout moments, with Black Out recording a clean sweep of the lead performance awards.

Gideon Okeke won Best Actor, while Padita Agu was named Best Actress for her role in the same film.

In the supporting categories, veteran actress Mercy Aigbe received the Best Supporting Actress award for My Mother Is a Witch, while Taye Ayimoro won Best Supporting Actor for Son of the Soil.

A lighter highlight of the night saw Tobi Bakre and Folu Storms take home the Best Kiss award for their on screen chemistry in Red Cycle, drawing cheers from the audience.

Cultural storytelling was also recognised, with Abanisete winning Best Indigenous Film, reinforcing the importance of indigenous narratives in Nigerian cinema.

Emerging talent was celebrated as Razaaq Adoti won Most Promising Actor for Son of the Soil, while Una Idoko received the Most Promising Actress award for I Am Anis, pointing to a vibrant future for the industry.

The ceremony also featured special recognition awards presented to Steve Ayorinde, Funke Akindele and Dr Shaibu Husseini, honouring their lasting contributions to Nollywood.
