Super Falcons camp rises to 22 players as Esther Okoronkwo, Michelle Alozie and Uchenna Kanu arrive ahead of Nigeria’s WAFCON 2026 defence

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have received a major boost ahead of their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2026 campaign, with Esther Okoronkwo, Michelle Alozie and Uchenna Kanu joining the team’s training camp in Casablanca, Morocco.

The arrival of the trio increased the number of players in the Super Falcons camp to 22 as head coach Justine Madugu continues preparations for Nigeria’s title defence.

The latest arrivals add further quality and experience to the squad as the nine-time African champions work towards their opening fixture of the tournament.

More players are expected to join the group, with Gift Monday, Deborah Abiodun and Folashade Ijamilusi scheduled to arrive at the team’s Hotel Marriott base later on Tuesday.

The Super Falcons began their final preparations for the continental competition last week as they aim to retain the trophy they won in the previous edition.

Madugu’s side will soon move to Rabat, where they are scheduled to play all their group-stage matches during the tournament.

Nigeria will begin their WAFCON 2026 title defence against Malawi’s Scorchers on Tuesday, July 28, at the Al Madina Stadium in Rabat.

The Super Falcons enter the competition with a strong record in African women’s football, having dominated the tournament historically with nine previous titles.
