Tinubu’s infrastructure development promise received renewed affirmation on Wednesday as the Federal Government commissioned major road projects in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, restated his administration’s unwavering commitment to transforming Nigeria’s infrastructure through inclusive and community-driven development.

The newly commissioned projects include the dualised and upgraded 16.4-kilometre Ushafa to War College/Army Checkpoint road and ancillary routes.

These roads are designed to ease movement, enhance economic opportunities, and improve access to critical services in the FCT’s satellite communities.

Addressing dignitaries and residents during the commissioning ceremony, President Tinubu underscored the broader vision behind the initiative.

“We have transformed a path of frustration into a corridor of opportunity. These dualised and upgraded roads will not only ease traffic congestion, they will breathe new life into economic activities, improve access to education and healthcare, and uplift the overall quality of life for the good people of Ushafa, Bwari, and neighbouring communities,” he said.

He also highlighted the deliberate decision to award the project to a Nigerian firm.

“This entire project was awarded to an indigenous contractor. That decision was deliberate — it stems from our belief in the competence, resilience, and ingenuity of Nigerian professionals and businesses,” Tinubu noted.

The President explained that the effort goes beyond just paving roads.

“We are not just building roads. We are building capacity, creating jobs, fostering community ownership, and proving that Nigerian contractors can deliver world-class infrastructure when given the right support.”

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, described the commissioning as unprecedented.

He praised President Tinubu’s commitment to delivering impactful projects, particularly in rural and peri-urban areas often neglected in past administrations.

“The continued unveiling of infrastructure in the FCT is a clear sign of purposeful governance. These projects are not only improving movement, they are unlocking the economic potential of entire communities,” Wike said.

He also commended the contractor for its professionalism and dedication.

In her remarks, Minister of State for FCT, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, expressed appreciation for the leadership shown by President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima.

She noted that the development of road infrastructure in satellite towns is changing the trajectory of growth in the territory.

“This is a new chapter in the history of the FCT. The lives of our residents are being transformed in real time,” she said.

Coordinator of the Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD), Hon. Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, echoed the sentiments.

He stated that the projects reflect the President’s balanced approach to development.

“The people of satellite towns see these efforts and stand firmly behind this administration. Equity in development builds trust,” he said.

The project’s completion was marked by wide attendance from national leaders. Present at the event were Senator David Jimkuta, Chairman of the Senate Committee on FCT Area Councils and Ancillary Matters, and several other National Assembly members.

Also in attendance were Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, Chief of Staff to the President (Office of the Vice President), and former governors and senators including Okezie Ikpeazu, Samuel Ortom, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Chibudom Nwuche, George Sekibo, Philip Aduda, and Mao Ohuabunwa.
