Tolu Arokodare Ajax move sees the Super Eagles striker become the eighth Nigerian player to join the Dutch club after signing from Wolves

Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare has joined Dutch football giants Ajax on loan from Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers, becoming the eighth Nigerian player to represent the historic Eredivisie side.

The 25-year-old Super Eagles forward completed the move on Wednesday after attracting interest from several European clubs, including Turkish side Trabzonspor and Italian club Fiorentina, before agreeing to continue his career in Amsterdam.

Arokodare’s arrival places him among a select group of Nigerian footballers who have worn the famous Ajax shirt, following the footsteps of former stars such as Finidi George, Nwankwo Kanu, Sunday Oliseh, Tijani Babangida, Christopher Kanu, Pius Ikedia and Calvin Bassey.

The move represents another significant milestone in the striker’s career as he seeks to make an impact at one of Europe’s most successful clubs.

Speaking after completing his transfer, Arokodare expressed his excitement about joining Ajax and admitted the opportunity was beyond what he had imagined.

“I am currently a player of Ajax. It’s just an amazing feeling, like I said. I never imagined,” Arokodare said.
