The statement, issued by Lt. Col. Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, said the insurgents launched simultaneous attacks from multiple directions between 10:00 p.m. on March 8 and 3:00 a.m. on March 9 in an apparent attempt to overwhelm the troops.

“The attacks occurred during the night of March 8–9, 2026, between 2200 hours and 0300 hours. The terrorists launched simultaneous assaults from several directions in an apparent attempt to overwhelm troop positions,” Uba said.

He added that the troops coordinated their defence effectively, with reinforcements and support from the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, eventually forcing the insurgents to retreat after suffering significant casualties, leaving several dead on the battlefield.

Despite the successful defence, Uba noted that some sections of the defensive perimeter were briefly breached during the intense firefight, and several structures and vehicles within the base sustained damage.

“Ground forces, supported by the Air Component, are currently conducting follow-up operations in the affected areas,” he said, confirming casualties among the troops.
