Victor Boniface transfer collapse stunned fans when the Bayer Leverkusen striker revealed how a €70 million move to Al-Nassr fell apart at the last minute.

Speaking candidly, the Nigerian striker described the surreal experience that ended with him stranded at Frankfurt Airport, suitcases packed, future in limbo.

“It was a big offer! €70M for the club, so they couldn’t say no,” Boniface said. “They accepted, so I was ready to go, and I even had my suitcases packed.”

Boniface, then based in Cologne, had already prepared emotionally and physically for the switch to Saudi Arabia. He gave away luxury clothing to friends, symbolising his farewell to Europe.

“The offer was so huge that I even gave away some of my luxury clothes to my friends,” he said. “I was at the airport, waiting, praying that the transfer would go through…”

But at the last minute, everything fell apart.

“My village people were like, ‘Come and go, let’s see na,’” he joked, referencing the Nigerian expression used when fate plays tricks on you.

Left at the airport without a contract or a clear answer, Boniface phoned a friend. “I called my friend and said, ‘Do you remember the Louis Vuitton T-shirt I gave you?’”

His story quickly gained traction online, with fans enjoying his humour and openness.
