Victor Osimhen will undergo a fitness test ahead of Galatasaray’s crucial derby against Fenerbahce after a hamstring injury sidelined him for 10 days

Galatasaray’s medical team will test striker Victor Osimhen on Friday as they race to get the Super Eagles forward fit for Monday’s crucial derby against Fenerbahce.

The 26-year-old, sidelined for 10 days with a left hamstring injury sustained during Nigeria’s match against Congo, is expected to join on-field training to assess his readiness for the Kadıköy showdown.

Osimhen missed Galatasaray’s last two matches, including Tuesday’s 1-0 Champions League defeat to Union Saint-Gilloise that ended the team’s 33-match home unbeaten streak.

Osimhen has undergone intensive rehabilitation, primarily in the gym, and has expressed his determination to feature in the high-stakes derby.

Head coach Okan Buruk has remained in constant contact with the medical team, emphasising the striker’s importance to the squad, particularly as Galatasaray navigates injuries and suspensions affecting nine players.

The team has struggled offensively in Osimhen’s absence, failing to score in the two European matches without him.

His presence on the pitch is considered pivotal to restoring Galatasaray’s attacking edge.

Meanwhile, reports from Fichajes indicate that Real Madrid are preparing a €100m bid for Osimhen.

The Spanish club views the Nigerian forward as key to their strategy, seeking a pure striker to complement plans for Kylian Mbappé’s return to the left wing.
