Jamal Musiala toughest opponent is Antonio Rudiger, the Bayern Munich star reveals after facing his Germany teammate during a tough Champions League clash

Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala has described Antonio Rudiger as the toughest opponent he has ever faced, crediting the Real Madrid defender’s strength and intensity.

Musiala made the statement during an interview with The Athletic, reflecting on their UEFA Champions League encounter last season.

“Antonio Rüdiger,” Musiala said when asked to name his most difficult opponent. “We played against Real Madrid in the Champions League, and that was quite tough. I have known him for quite a few years. And, yeah, it’s not nice playing against him.”

The pair are international teammates with Germany, but their club meeting was far from friendly. Musiala struggled to break through Rudiger’s solid defence during the match, which ended in frustration for the Bayern forward.

Currently recovering from an ankle injury sustained in a Club World Cup match against Paris Saint-Germain, Musiala remains one of Bayern’s key creative assets.

Rudiger, who joined Real Madrid from Chelsea, has built a reputation as one of Europe’s strongest defenders. Despite Madrid’s recent Club World Cup exit, his individual form has remained consistent.
