Ekiti politicians join ADC in major realignment as top figures from PDP, APC, and LP defect, including ex-deputy governors and former state speaker

Ekiti politicians join ADC in what is being described as one of the state’s most significant political realignments in recent years.

On Friday, two former deputy governors, a former Speaker of the Ekiti House of Assembly, and a former Secretary to the State Government officially dumped their former parties to embrace the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Former Deputy Governors Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka and Dr. Tae Lawal, both of whom served under past PDP-led administrations, announced their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to ADC.

They were joined by Hon. Boyega Aribisogan, former Speaker of the State Assembly, and Amb. Dare Bejide, ex-SSG, in embracing the opposition coalition.

The high-profile defections were unveiled at a political event in Ado-Ekiti, where Mr. Omolayo Omole, the Ekiti State ADC Chairman, welcomed the defectors, urging more political leaders to join what he called a “rescue mission”.

Also defecting was Akin Omole, a former Commissioner under Governor Kayode Fayemi, alongside several local government officials and party executives from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), and PDP.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Eleka affirmed that the ADC is not chasing shadows but embarking on a realistic path to national redemption. “ADC has come to stay whether they like it or not,” he declared.

Representing former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Prof. Bayo Fakunle added that the movement is unstoppable. “Nothing can stop a moving train,” he asserted, describing the shift as the beginning of a new era.

As more Ekiti politicians join ADC, the state’s political landscape is expected to witness increased competition and shifting alliances ahead of future elections.
