Jigawa State anniversary marked with a work-free day as residents reflect on 34 years of growth, unity, and peaceful coexistence

Jigawa State anniversary was officially celebrated today, Wednesday, August 27, as the state government declared a work-free day to commemorate its 34th year of existence.

The announcement was made in a statement signed by the Head of Service, Muhammad Dagaceri, inviting citizens to take part in activities and prayers organized across the state to honour its creation.

Carved out of old Kano State in 1991, Jigawa State was formed alongside Yobe, Enugu, Bauchi, and Kogi during a major state restructuring aimed at enhancing governance and development.

The government called on all residents to pray for Jigawa and Nigeria, highlighting the need for unity and peace in the face of current challenges.

The Jigawa State Anniversary is seen as an opportunity to reflect on the journey so far and show appreciation for the blessings the state has enjoyed.

“This move reflects the state’s commitment to honouring its unique history and promoting community spirit,” the government stated.

Dagaceri emphasized the importance of community participation, encouraging public servants and citizens to make the most of the break by engaging in communal prayers and appreciating the progress made over the years.

Entering its 35th year, Jigawa State is poised to continue building on its foundations of peace and progress.

The government reiterated its vision of fostering a strong, united, and forward-looking state.

Residents expressed gratitude and hope, with local events in Dutse and beyond bringing communities together in celebration.
