The Nigerian striker will sit out Galatasaray’s league clash with Eyüpspor to ensure full recovery from the ankle injury he suffered during international duty.

The club is carefully managing his return after scans revealed a moderate ligament sprain with internal bleeding, following his substitution in the 35th minute against Rwanda.

“Osimhen is expected to be rested and not risked in the league match away to Eyüpspor, with plans for him to start in the line-up for the Champions League clash in Frankfurt next Thursday evening,” Turkish outlet Fanatik reported, quoting sources in Kemerburgaz.

The club’s medical team, led by Dr. Yener İnce, confirmed the injury status and reassured fans in a statement:
“Tests conducted at our sponsor hospital revealed a moderate sprain with bleeding in the ankle ligaments of our player Victor Osimhen. Treatment has begun to ensure his return to the pitch as soon as possible.”

Osimhen’s swift recovery comes as a massive relief to Galatasaray fans and management, especially with Argentine forward Mauro Icardi still not at full fitness.

It means Osimhen is set to lead the line in the high-stakes Frankfurt tie, a fixture Galatasaray have labelled critical for their European ambitions.

Since his record-breaking €75 million transfer from Napoli, Osimhen has scored 37 goals in 41 appearances for the Istanbul giants, establishing himself as a key figure under manager Okan Buruk.

Upon his return to Turkey, Osimhen reportedly told the coach he was willing to “make sacrifices” for the club’s Champions League run.

The team is expected to deploy Barış Yılmaz in the weekend’s domestic match, giving Osimhen the necessary time to heal without any risk.
