Ademola Lookman transfer update: Nigerian forward returns to Atalanta training after failed Inter Milan move and Juventus interest for 2026

Ademola Lookman transfer update — Nigeria international Ademola Lookman has returned to full training with Atalanta, following a protracted transfer standoff that saw him sidelined for several weeks during the summer window.

Lookman had been pushing for a move to Inter Milan and trained separately from the rest of the squad in August, even going as far as removing Atalanta-related content from his social media.

Inter submitted a reported €45 million bid for the 27-year-old, but Atalanta rejected the offer, unwilling to part with their talismanic forward.

Having featured for Nigeria during the recent international break — playing 75 minutes against Rwanda and a full 90 against South Africa in World Cup qualifiers — Lookman returned to Italy in strong physical condition.

His reintegration into Ivan Juric’s squad marks a turning point in what had become a tense situation between player and club.

Atalanta see Lookman as crucial to their Serie A and European ambitions this season.

He scored 20 goals in all competitions last term and brings much-needed attacking depth alongside Gianluca Scamacca and Charles De Ketelaere.

However, he is unlikely to feature against Lecce this weekend as the club manages his reintroduction carefully.

The Ademola Lookman transfer update comes as Juventus reportedly identify the former RB Leipzig and Leicester City man as their top target to replace Dusan Vlahovic, whose contract at the Allianz Stadium expires in 2026.

According to Tuttosport, Juventus are considering a January move for Lookman, though his current deal with Atalanta runs until June 2027.

The Bianconeri are also monitoring other options, including Lookman’s teammate Scamacca, Gonçalo Ramos, and Joshua Zirkzee.

This is not the first time Lookman has found himself out of the Atalanta setup during a transfer saga.

A similar situation unfolded in 2024, but the forward went on to play a key role once the window closed.

While Atalanta have temporarily drawn a line under the summer drama, Lookman’s long-term future in Bergamo remains uncertain.
