Ezimo protest grows as women demand action after kidnaps and a shooting, urging Enugu authorities to restore safety in the troubled community

According to residents speaking on Saturday, Ezimo protest grows after women in the Ezimo community of Udenu Local Government Area, Enugu State, took to the streets to condemn the alleged kidnap of five people and the shooting of another during a recent attack.

The women marched through major parts of the community, expressing deep concern that the incident had intensified fear and insecurity. One victim of the attack is receiving treatment in hospital, adding urgency to the calls for decisive intervention.

A social media influencer, Sen. Chijinkem Ugwuanyi, announced the incident via Facebook, stating that locals who confirmed the attack described a troubling rise in abductions and shootings.

He noted that the situation had left the community anxious and on edge.

In a video shared on Ugwuanyi’s page, the protesting women appealed to the Enugu State Government and security agencies to move quickly and restore peace.

They warned that residents could no longer endure the constant worry of further attacks, insisting that the authorities must act promptly to protect lives.

Across Ezimo, the atmosphere remains tense as families hope that the growing pressure will prompt a strong response and bring an end to the wave of violence.
