The new appointment marks a significant return to the club where Busquets established himself as one of the finest defensive midfielders of his generation.

Busquets joined Barcelona’s youth system as a teenager in 2005 and progressed through the ranks before making 25 appearances for the club’s reserve side.

His outstanding performances eventually earned him a place in Barcelona’s senior squad, where he became a key figure during one of the most successful periods in the club’s history.

The former midfielder won numerous major honours with Barcelona, including multiple La Liga titles and UEFA Champions League trophies, while also playing a central role in Spain’s golden generation.

Busquets left Barcelona in 2023 after a distinguished career at Camp Nou and joined Inter Miami, where he reunited with former Barcelona teammates including Lionel Messi.

After ending his professional playing career in 2025, Busquets has now chosen to remain in football by moving into coaching.
