The 29-year-old is expected to reach the landmark if selected by head coach Eric Chelle, becoming only the fourth player in Nigerian football history to join the prestigious 100-cap club.

Iwobi would enter an elite group featuring Joseph Yobo, Vincent Enyeama and Ahmed Musa, the current record holder for Super Eagles appearances.

If he features in the match, Iwobi will also set a new national benchmark as the fastest Nigerian player to reach 100 international caps, achieving the feat in 10 years and 245 days since his debut.

He made his senior debut for Nigeria on October 8, 2015, in a friendly against the Democratic Republic of Congo, and has since become a consistent figure in the national team setup.

His projected record would surpass Ahmed Musa’s previous mark of 11 years and 35 days, set when he reached his century of appearances in a 2021 World Cup qualifier against the Central African Republic.

Only three Nigerian players have previously reached the 100-cap milestone, highlighting the exclusivity of the achievement.

Joseph Yobo, Vincent Enyeama and Ahmed Musa form the historic trio.

Iwobi’s achievement would further cement his status as one of the most dependable and enduring figures in modern Nigerian football.

The milestone also reflects his longevity and consistency across multiple international tournaments and qualification campaigns.
