The report added that the Gunners are now assessing whether to submit an improved bid as they continue efforts to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s squad ahead of the new season.

Guimaraes has reportedly informed Newcastle that he wants to complete a move to Arsenal, a development that could influence the direction of the negotiations in the coming days.

The 28-year-old midfielder has already joined Newcastle’s pre-season training camp in La Manga, Spain, where the club is preparing for the upcoming campaign.

Despite the player’s reported preference, Newcastle are understood to be determined to keep their captain, who remains one of the club’s most influential players.

Guimaraes has two years remaining on his current contract, with Newcastle also holding an option to extend the deal by a further year, strengthening the club’s position in negotiations.

The bid for Bruno Guimaraes reflects the north London club’s ambition to reinforce its midfield after winning the Premier League title, while Newcastle face the challenge of retaining one of their key figures ahead of the new season.
