WWE legend Brock Lesnar announced his retirement from professional wrestling after losing to Nigeria-born WWE star Oba Femi in a Hell in a Cell match at SummerSlam 2026, bringing an extraordinary career to a close.

The Brock Lesnar retirement announcement came days after the emotional SummerSlam encounter, which took place in Lesnar’s home state of Minnesota.

Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, the former WWE Champion confirmed that the match against Oba Femi was his final appearance inside the ring.

“I’m here today to do this interview to let the world and everybody know that I am retired, and I wanted to say a big thank you to everybody. Saturday was a very emotional day for me,” Lesnar said.

Lesnar, widely regarded as one of the most dominant figures in WWE history, revealed that he had already begun considering retirement after Oba Femi defeated him at WrestleMania 42.

“When Oba Femi slammed me at WrestleMania, I was like, ‘I can’t do this again,’” Lesnar said.

However, the veteran wrestler explained that he returned for the SummerSlam contest because he believed he still had more to give.

Lesnar added that he “still had some fuel left in the tank” before stepping back into the ring for what became his final match.

The retirement marks the end of a career that saw Lesnar achieve major success in professional wrestling, mixed martial arts and amateur wrestling.

His WWE journey included multiple world championship reigns, memorable rivalries and some of the most physically intense matches in modern wrestling history.
