Triple H Says WWE Isn’t Real Sport and reveals Brock Lesnar has been mentoring Oba Femi behind the scenes ahead of SummerSlam

World Wrestling Entertainment Chief Content Officer Paul Levesque, better known as Triple H, has said WWE no longer needs to convince audiences that it is a legitimate sport, describing professional wrestling as an art form while stressing that the physical demands and emotions involved are entirely real.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Triple H reflected on how the wrestling industry has evolved from an era in which performers fiercely defended the authenticity of the business to one where fans openly embrace sports entertainment for its storytelling and athleticism.

“There was a time when our predecessors literally fought tooth and nail in bars, clubs, and on the streets to demonstrate that this was real,” Triple H said.

“As time has progressed, the legitimacy of our work is simply defined by what we do. It is incredibly challenging, physically demanding and all-encompassing. It is an art form that consumes your life.”

Triple H added that WWE no longer needs to present itself as a conventional sporting competition.

“We do not need to feign being a real sport. We are a show, a film, a television series centred around a sport. However, the physicality is genuine. The emotions are authentic. What people put into it are real, maybe more so than any other sport or business I’ve ever seen.”

Beyond discussing WWE’s identity, Triple H also highlighted the role experienced performers play in developing emerging talent, describing mentorship as one of the company’s greatest strengths.

The WWE executive revealed that former world champion Brock Lesnar has been spending time mentoring Oba Femi, the Nigerian-born WWE star regarded as one of the company’s brightest young prospects.

“He recognises something unique in him and says, ‘Alright kid, come with me, and I will teach you. Here are all the things you need to learn,’” Triple H said.

According to Triple H, Lesnar regularly invites Oba Femi for lengthy discussions away from the ring, sharing knowledge that extends beyond wrestling techniques to the mindset and psychology required to succeed at the highest level.

Triple H also praised senior stars including Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins for helping younger wrestlers develop their careers, saying the willingness of established names to invest in the next generation would strengthen WWE’s future.

Oba Femi has rapidly emerged as one of WWE’s standout prospects since joining the company, earning praise for his athleticism, power and in-ring presence.

Triple H suggested that guidance from accomplished veterans such as Lesnar could prove invaluable as the Nigerian continues his rise within WWE.
