Cattle rustling attack foiled in Kebbi as joint security team intercepts bandits, recovers motorcycles after gun battle

The Kebbi State Police Command says a cattle rustling attack foiled by a joint security team led to the interception of suspected Lakurawa bandits and the recovery of four motorcycles in Bunza Local Government Area.

Police spokesman SP Bashir Usman said the attackers had invaded Tungan Babu Lada village, where a 35-year-old resident, Usman Ferungu, was shot dead before the assailants fled with rustled cattle.

According to SP Bashir Usman, a team led by the Divisional Police Officer of Kangiwa Division pursued the fleeing suspects and intercepted them at Garin Mayo Mine.

A gun battle followed during which one suspect was neutralised and four motorcycles believed to have been used by the attackers were recovered.

Police authorities said the swift response disrupted the activities of the group, prevented further attacks and averted additional loss of life.

The command reiterated its commitment to public safety, stating that aggressive patrols and intelligence-led operations would continue across the state under the proactive policing strategy of the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Mohammed Hadeija.
