Joe Cole urges Chelsea to sign Marcus Rashford, saying the Manchester United forward would be a strong fit under Xabi Alonso

Former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole, speaking in an interview with The Sun on Tuesday, June 10, 2026, has encouraged his former club to explore a move for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, suggesting the England international could be a valuable addition under new manager Xabi Alonso.

Cole stated that Rashford would “do a good job” at Stamford Bridge, adding that Chelsea should consider the financial terms carefully, particularly in relation to wages and valuation.

The former England international’s comments come amid continued speculation over Rashford’s long-term future following his loan spell at Barcelona last season, where he spent the campaign away from Manchester United.

During his time in Spain, Marcus Rashford scored 14 goals and played a contributing role in Barcelona’s successful LaLiga title-winning campaign under Hansi Flick, helping the Catalan club finish ahead of Real Madrid in a closely contested season.

Cole praised Rashford’s progress, noting that the forward had rebuilt confidence during his spell in Spain and still has room to reach a higher level in his career.

He emphasised that the 28-year-old “ticks a lot of boxes” for Chelsea, though any potential move would depend on negotiations.

According to Cole, Chelsea should at least inquire about the player’s availability, while also ensuring any deal remains financially sensible for the club’s long-term planning.
