Delta police arrest suspected armed robber in Sapele, recovering a fabricated pistol and live ammunition during a targeted operation

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a 21-year-old suspected armed robber during a targeted early morning operation in Sapele Local Government Area.

The Delta police arrest suspected armed robber operation was carried out by the CP Special Assignment Team, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Julius Robinson, at about 03:35hrs on March 1, 2026.

Prince Omanure, also known as Anini, aged 21 and resident in the Ghana Area of Sapele, was apprehended following persistent complaints from residents over serial robberies allegedly perpetrated by a motorcycle-riding syndicate.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Police Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued in Warri.

According to Superintendent Edafe, the suspect later led investigators to a bush along the Warri Sapele Road near the Trailer Park, where a fabricated Beretta pistol loaded with eight rounds of live ammunition had been concealed.

Superintendent Edafe disclosed that the suspect has provided valuable information to investigators and that efforts are under way to apprehend other members of the syndicate.

The arrest represents a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to curb armed robbery in Sapele and surrounding communities, as residents continue to demand decisive action against violent crime.
