Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, will take on WNBA side Los Angeles Sparks in a pre-season exhibition match next month.

The D’Tigress Los Angeles Sparks friendly match is scheduled for April 25, 2026, at the Viejas Arena in the United States.

The encounter is part of Nigeria’s preparation for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup, which will be held in Germany in September.

The game will mark the first time a Nigerian team faces the Los Angeles Sparks, one of the most successful franchises in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA).

Head coach Rena Wakama will use the fixture to further assess her squad following their recent World Cup qualifying campaign in France.

D’Tigress recorded two wins and three losses in the qualifiers, securing valuable experience ahead of the global tournament.
