The Falconets World Cup qualifier venue decision brings clarity after initial confusion over the match location, following claims from Malawi that the fixture had been scheduled for the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta.

The NFF, however, secured approval from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) late on Thursday, officially confirming Ikenne as the approved venue for the crucial encounter.

Kick-off for the first leg has been set for 4pm local time on Saturday, with Nigeria aiming to take a strong advantage into the return fixture.

The second leg will be played at the Bingu National Stadium in Malawi on Saturday, May 9, 2026, where the aggregate winner will secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.

The development underscores the importance of logistical coordination in international football, particularly at the qualification stage, where venue confirmations play a critical role in preparation and planning.
