Fiorentina have stepped up talks for Wolves striker Tolu Arokodare with a €22m offer as the Nigeria forward considers his next move

Fiorentina have intensified their pursuit of Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Tolu Arokodare after submitting an improved €22 million (£18.76 million) proposal for the Nigeria international, with negotiations continuing over the structure of a possible deal.

The Serie A club’s offer includes a season-long loan arrangement with an option to complete a permanent transfer next summer.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Fiorentina are keen to secure the initial loan agreement before deciding on the final purchase arrangement, although it remains uncertain whether Wolves will accept a mandatory buy clause.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are expected to carefully assess the proposal after investing £24 million to sign Arokodare from Belgian side Racing Genk in 2025.

The forward arrived in England after an impressive campaign in Belgium, where he scored 21 league goals to win the Belgian Pro League Golden Boot and the Ebony Shoe award for the country’s best African player.

Arokodare’s first season at Molineux proved challenging as Wolves suffered relegation from the Premier League.

The striker recorded six goals and two assists in 38 appearances across all competitions, with memorable league strikes against Arsenal, Chelsea and Brentford, as well as a goal against Everton in the EFL Cup.

Despite a difficult adaptation period, the 24-year-old remains highly regarded due to his physical qualities, European experience and previous scoring record.

Reports indicate that Arokodare is interested in continuing his career in one of Europe’s top five leagues and has turned down interest from Turkish club Trabzonspor, who had submitted an official offer.

The Arokodare transfer discussions come as Wolves prepare for their return to the Championship under new head coach Cesar Peixoto.

The manager is currently evaluating his attacking options, with Raúl Jiménez and Adam Armstrong expected to compete for the main striker role, potentially limiting Arokodare’s playing opportunities.

Arokodare remains under contract with Wolves until 2029, with the club holding an option to extend the agreement by another year.

The forward also has previous Bundesliga experience, having made 10 appearances for Cologne during the 2020-21 season.

While Fiorentina’s latest proposal represents a significant step forward, a final agreement depends on whether both clubs can reach common ground on the transfer structure and valuation of the Nigerian striker.
