Galatasaray Deny Salary Crisis reports amid claims of delayed wages, insisting Victor Osimhen is happy and fully committed to the club

Galatasaray have denied reports of a salary crisis involving Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, insisting the forward remains happy at the club despite claims of delayed payments.

Turkish newspaper Hürriyet reported that several players had not received wages for two to three months due to the club’s inflated wage bill.

The report alleged that Osimhen, who earns €15m net per year, had yet to receive his January and February salaries.

The rumours surfaced after Galatasaray’s 2–0 defeat away to Konyaspor, days after a 5–2 home victory over Juventus in the UEFA Champions League knockout play-off first leg.

Osimhen missed the Konyaspor clash with a knee complaint but is expected to travel for the return leg in Turin.

According to Hürriyet, the striker was reluctant to take risks ahead of the decisive European fixture.

Arda Özkurt dismissed reports that Osimhen was unsettled or unpaid, describing the allegations as baseless.

Journalist Haluk Yürekli also rejected suggestions that financial strain influenced team selection or contributed to the defeat at Konyaspor.

Yürekli acknowledged the club’s high wage structure but maintained that Galatasaray remain capable of meeting obligations.

Another source, Nevzat Dindar, refuted claims that Osimhen had issued a formal warning letter over outstanding salaries.

Dindar stated that foreign players are accustomed to minor delays within legal limits and remain understanding.

Erdem Açıkgöz added that Osimhen has received the full €6m due to him from image rights income.

Açıkgöz explained that additional advertising revenue above that amount will be shared with the club.

Osimhen is currently the highest-paid player in the Turkish Super Lig, ahead of Ederson of Fenerbahçe, who earns €11m, and Galatasaray teammate Leroy Sané on €9m.

Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk recently acknowledged the steady rise in the club’s transfer spending and salaries.

Buruk noted that budgets set at the start of the season must be closely monitored.

Meanwhile, Osimhen returned to training on Monday as preparations intensified for Wednesday’s Champions League showdown against Juventus.
