The defeat marked Ghana’s fourth consecutive loss, following a heavy 5-1 humiliation against Austria the previous week, intensifying pressure on the national team management.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Ghana Football Association confirmed the coach’s departure and thanked him for his service to the national team.

“The association wishes to thank Otto Addo sincerely for his contribution to the team and wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavours,” the statement read.

The GFA added that it would announce a new technical direction for the Black Stars in due course, as preparations continue for the World Cup in North America.

Addo, who had been in charge since March 2024, leaves the role at a critical moment, with Ghana facing a challenging group that includes England, Croatia, and Panama.

The timing of the decision has sparked concern among supporters, given the limited preparation window before football’s biggest tournament begins.
