Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has strongly defended his players after criticism emerged over their celebrations following a 2-1 victory against Arsenal in a tightly contested Premier League clash on Sunday.

Guardiola Defends Man City Players Amid Arsenal Celebration Criticism debate intensified after former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney suggested the celebrations were “a bit over the top”, sparking wider discussion in football circles.

Guardiola, however, dismissed the remarks in emphatic terms, describing such criticism as “stupid” and insisting that his players were fully entitled to express their emotions after a significant win.

The City boss argued that the victory carried considerable weight given the strength of the opposition and the importance of the result in the ongoing title race.

“When they celebrated, people can say whatever stupid things they want to say,” Guardiola said. “They celebrated because they know the value of the opponent.”

He added that respect for both opponents and supporters does not prevent players from celebrating important wins, stressing that emotional reactions are a natural part of the game.
