Ikorodu High Court directs three tissue-based DNA tests abroad to determine the paternity of late singer Mohbad’s son, Liam, amid family dispute

The Ikorodu High Court in Lagos State has ordered three DNA tests abroad to establish the paternity of Liam, the son of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

The ruling follows ongoing disputes between Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, and the singer’s widow, Wunmi, regarding the child’s paternity.

At the resumed hearing on Tuesday, February 3, Joseph Aloba’s counsel, Barrister Oladayo Ogungbe, informed the court that both parties were directed to recommend foreign medical facilities capable of performing tissue-based DNA tests.

Each party will propose one testing centre, while the court will appoint a third independent laboratory, resulting in three separate tests.

The court emphasized that the chosen facilities must be capable of conducting tissue-based DNA analysis.

Joseph Aloba has previously insisted that Mohbad’s remains would not be buried until the child’s paternity is conclusively determined through DNA testing.

The case has been adjourned to February 10 for further proceedings.
