Imisi wins Big Brother Naija with 42.8% votes, sparking backlash over “pity vote” claims. Fans argue over whether her win was deserved or strategic

Imisi wins Big Brother Naija Season 10 in a dramatic finale that has sparked both celebration and controversy across social media.

The 23-year-old emerged victorious with a commanding 42.8% of the total votes, more than doubling that of her closest competitor, Dede, who polled just 15.94%.

The remaining finalists — Koyin, Sultana, Kola, Jason Jae, Mensan, Isabella, and Kaybobo — lagged behind with single-digit percentages.

While many viewers cheered Imisi’s emphatic win, a vocal section of the BBNaija fanbase questioned the legitimacy of her victory, branding it a result of “pity votes” rather than merit.

On X (formerly Twitter), user Mackie4reall criticised the voting trend: “Imisi winning #BBNaija really says a lot about what we celebrate in this country. We reward pity over substance — then wonder why our society’s broken.”

Some went further, calling the result a form of charity. “The money was faithfully given to Imisi as charity, since she begged for it,” one user wrote.

Another comment lumped her with past winners allegedly carried by sympathy: “Laycon – pity. Whitemoney – pity. Phyna – razz/pity. Ilebaye – pity. Imisi – pity.”

However, others swiftly shut down the narrative.

Supporter symply_kimm wrote, “Which one is pity vote??? Imisi did the most in that house. She earned her win!”

Even uzezzi_ — who admitted supporting Dede — defended Imisi’s gameplay: “She didn’t sulk, she fought back, met madness with madness. That’s why she deserved it.”

For many fans, Imisi’s appeal was in her flawed yet fearless personality. User ulxma described her as “funny, smart, unserious, courageous, and emotional — the full package.”

The victory also came without any of the usual tropes. “No ship, no pity party, no poverty strategy — just pure entertainment,” wrote kofoworola_aa. “A wholesome winner and 10/10 housemate.”

But doubts remain in some corners. One Instagram user, riike_001, alleged that Faith — disqualified days before the finale — would have been the real winner.

Faith was removed from the house after a physical altercation with Sultana, a breach of BBNaija rules. His disqualification reignited claims of a skewed result.

On Facebook, however, fans dismissed the theory. NanaAma Enam Avumegah wrote, “Imisi would have won regardless of Faith’s disqualification! Enough with the noise!”

Despite the noise, Imisi’s margin of victory speaks volumes. Her 42.8% vote share cements her place as one of the most dominant winners in BBNaija history.

She becomes the fourth female and second-youngest champion ever, following Ilebaye Odiniya, who won Season 8 at just 22.

As user Maneya Gwen Israel Chilukutu put it with humour: “Who should argue? When the money decided to quarantine the rest? Imisioluwa BBNaija Season 10 the light!”
