Imo State Police have arrested Vitalis Nwoko for the alleged fatal assault of his wife, Uloma, following a domestic dispute in Ahiazu Mbaise

The Imo State Police Command has arrested a 58-year-old man, Vitalis Nwoko, following the alleged fatal assault of his wife, Uloma, in Umuagba, Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area.

Police spokesperson Henry Okoye confirmed the arrest on Sunday evening, noting that the incident was reported to the Ahiazu Mbaise Police Division by the deceased’s sister.

Okoye explained that the couple had a disagreement on Thursday, 11 December 2025, which escalated into a violent confrontation.

Uloma collapsed during the altercation and was rushed to Cecilia Hospital, Ogbe, where she was pronounced dead.

“Operatives of the Ahiazu Mbaise Division acted promptly on the report lodged by the deceased’s sister and arrested Vitalis Nwoko for the alleged murder of his wife,” Okoye said.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the altercation began as a misunderstanding between the couple, which escalated physically, resulting in Uloma’s collapse.

The suspect has been transferred to the Imo State Police Command headquarters for further investigation and prosecution.
