Kano Fire Service confirms two deaths in separate rescue operations in Ungogo and Karaye Local Government Areas

The Kano State Fire Service has confirmed the deaths of two individuals during separate search and rescue operations on Thursday in Ungogo and Karaye Local Government Areas.

The agency’s Public Relations Officer, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, stated that both incidents were reported to the Emergency Response Unit, prompting the immediate deployment of rescue teams.

In the first incident at Bachirawa, Kwanar Madugu in Ungogo, 18-year-old Yusif Malam Gwani Isah fell into an open water source.

Rescue teams retrieved him unconscious, but he was later confirmed dead. His body was handed over to Jibrin Isah, the Ward Head of Bachirawa quarters.

The second incident occurred at Kofar Yamma in Karaye town, where eight-year-old Abdussalam Ibrahim fell into a well.

Fire service personnel rescued the child unconscious, but he was later pronounced dead. His remains were returned to his father, Malam Musa Mudi.

The Kano State Fire Service extended condolences to the families of the deceased and urged the public to exercise caution around open wells and other water sources.

Abdullahi emphasised the importance of safety measures to prevent similar tragedies, particularly for children.s
