After completing his recovery programme, the 26-year-old has now rejoined his teammates in full training, raising hopes that he will be available for the start of the competitive season.

Despite his return, Udinese are expected to manage Okoye’s workload carefully. The goalkeeper is unlikely to feature in the club’s upcoming friendly matches against Barcelona and Nottingham Forest, with the coaching staff keen to avoid any recurrence of the injury.

The decision reflects the club’s cautious approach as Okoye continues to rebuild his match sharpness after several weeks on the sidelines.

Okoye has not made a single appearance in Udinese’s pre-season schedule because of the injury, but the club remains optimistic that he will be fit in time for its opening competitive fixture.

The former Sparta Rotterdam and Watford goalkeeper is expected to be available when Udinese begin their campaign against Padova in the first round of the Coppa Italia on Saturday, August 15.

Okoye heads into the new season looking to retain his place as Udinese’s first-choice goalkeeper after establishing himself as a key figure for the Serie A side.
