Mohamed Salah faces a court case over former lawyer Amr Faragallah’s fees, with an Egyptian court ordering the football star to appear

Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah is due before the New Cairo Court on Sunday over a lawsuit brought by former lawyer Amr Faragallah, who is seeking payment for legal and administrative services allegedly provided to the player.

The case centres on Faragallah’s claim that he carried out legal and administrative work for Salah and is entitled to financial compensation.

The court has scheduled the first hearing and ordered Salah to appear personally to take a legal oath as part of the proceedings.

The prescribed oath requires Salah to deny that Faragallah provided the services cited in the lawsuit or that Salah owes the former lawyer any money.

The court has also warned that Salah could face legal consequences under Egyptian law if he fails to attend or refuses to take the oath without a valid justification.

The dispute dates back to September 2015, while Faragallah’s claim reportedly relies on a power of attorney that Salah issued to him in 2012.

Faragallah is seeking compensation for work he says he performed on behalf of the Liverpool and Egypt forward during their professional relationship.

The proceedings will now give Salah an opportunity to respond formally to the claims as the court considers the evidence and the former lawyer’s demands.

The court case adds an unexpected legal dimension to the footballer’s career, with the dispute concerning an earlier professional relationship rather than his activities on the pitch.

Salah remains one of Egypt’s most prominent sporting figures and a major international football star, making the proceedings likely to attract considerable attention in his home country.
