Osimhen Remains Turkey’s Highest-Paid Player as Galatasaray earnings keep the Nigerian striker ahead of Mohamed Salah’s Trabzonspor salary package

Victor Osimhen remains the highest-paid footballer in Turkey by overall guaranteed earnings despite the arrival of Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah at Trabzonspor, according to a breakdown of the two African stars’ reported contract packages.

Salah’s high-profile move to the Turkish Süper Lig has made him one of the division’s biggest earners, with the former Liverpool forward reportedly earning a net salary of €17 million per season on a two-year deal running until 2028.

However, Osimhen’s contract with Galatasaray, which runs until June 2029, includes additional guaranteed payments that keep his total annual package above Salah’s fixed salary.

The Nigerian striker’s deal reportedly includes a €15 million net base salary, a €1 million loyalty bonus and €5 million in image-rights payments each season, taking his guaranteed annual earnings to approximately €21 million.

That figure places Osimhen around €4 million ahead of Salah’s guaranteed yearly salary, despite Salah having the higher basic wage.

Salah’s contract structure places greater emphasis on commercial returns, with the 34-year-old reportedly receiving 20 per cent of revenue from official Trabzonspor merchandise featuring his name rather than a fixed image-rights payment.

For Salah to surpass Osimhen’s overall earnings through the merchandise arrangement alone, the commercial clause would need to generate more than €20 million annually, a significant target even for a player of Salah’s global profile.

The Egyptian captain arrives in Turkey after a celebrated spell at Liverpool, where he scored 255 goals in 435 appearances, won two Premier League titles and lifted the UEFA Champions League trophy in 2019.

His move to Trabzonspor represents one of the biggest transfers in Turkish football history and has generated considerable excitement among supporters.

Trabzonspor reportedly beat competition from Turkish rivals Beşiktaş to secure Salah’s signature, while Saudi Pro League club Al Ittihad were also linked with a possible move after reportedly proposing a deal worth around $25 million per year.

Despite Salah’s arrival, Osimhen continues to hold the distinction of being Turkey’s highest-paid player overall because of the structure of his Galatasaray agreement.

The Super Eagles striker joined Galatasaray following his successful spell in European football and has remained one of the most valuable attacking players in the region, with continued interest from clubs including Tottenham Hotspur.

Unless Salah’s commercial agreement produces exceptional merchandise revenue, Osimhen is expected to retain his position as the Süper Lig’s top earner, underlining the growing financial influence of African football stars in European competitions.
