PDP faction fixes Abuja convention for March 28–29, 2026, to elect a new National Working Committee and statutory organs

A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party has fixed March 28 and 29, 2026, for its national convention in Abuja to elect a new National Working Committee and other statutory organs of the party.

The decision was announced in a communiqué issued at the end of the 105th meeting of the National Executive Committee of the party held on Monday in the Federal Capital Territory.

The communiqué was jointly signed by Abdulrahman Muhammed, National Chairman of the National Caretaker Working Committee, and Samuel Anyanwu, National Secretary.

The statement confirmed that the National Executive Committee approved and ratified the dates for the convention as part of ongoing efforts to reposition the party’s leadership structure.

“NEC further approved and confirmed March 28 and 29, 2026, as the date for the PDP National Convention, to be held at Abuja for the purpose of electing members of the National Working Committee and other statutory organs of the Party,” the communiqué stated.

The planned convention is expected to shape the party’s internal leadership framework ahead of future political engagements, with party stakeholders anticipating a decisive gathering in the capital.
