President Tinubu mourns Evelyn Osagie, Assistant Editor at The Nation newspaper, who passed away last Sunday at the age of 49 after a brief illness.

In a condolence message, President Bola Tinubu described her death at such a young age as sad and heartbreaking.

He recalled her as one of The Nation’s most talented, creative, and hardworking correspondents, particularly noted for her passion for arts and culture reporting.

The late Osagie also wrote extensively on women’s issues, carving a reputation as a journalist who gave voice to underrepresented stories.

“A consummate poet in written and spoken forms with widespread influence and contacts in literary and cultural circles, the late Osagie distinguished herself in the various fields she traversed,” President Tinubu remarked.

He prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul, while extending his condolences to her family, the management of The Nation newspaper, and her professional colleagues.
