PSG owners Eupen acquisition is complete as Qatar Sports Investments confirms full ownership of KAS Eupen months after taking sporting control

Qatar Sports Investments, the Qatari group that owns Paris Saint-Germain, confirmed on Thursday 17 September 2026 that it had completed the purchase of Belgian club KAS Eupen and now holds the club in full.

Qatar Sports Investments said in a statement that it had “completed the acquisition of KAS Eupen”. The group added that the deal “formalises QSI’s full ownership of the club, following its takeover of KAS Eupen’s sporting operations in December 2025.”

The announcement closes a process that had already been visible on the pitch and in the boardroom. Qatar Sports Investments and KAS Eupen “have been working closely together to build a strong foundation for the club’s long-term sporting and commercial development,” the statement said.

The Belgian side is not a new Qatari project. KAS Eupen has sat in the Qatari sporting orbit since 2012 through the Aspire Academy, which has used the club as a pathway for young players.

Relegation in May 2024 ended eight seasons in the Belgian top flight. KAS Eupen now plays in the second division.

Paris Saint-Germain remains the flagship. Qatar Sports Investments took a majority stake in the French club in 2011 and has held a minority stake in Portuguese club Braga since 2022. Since the Paris takeover the club has won 12 of 14 Ligue 1 titles and is the two-time defending Champions League winner.

That contrast is the story’s tension. One asset is a European champion. The other is a modest Belgian club rebuilding after the drop.

Multi-club ownership is now a standard tool for rich investors. It can mean shared scouting, loans and commercial scale. It can also mean a smaller club living in a giant’s shadow.

Thursday’s paperwork does not restore KAS Eupen to the Belgian elite by itself. It does make the chain of command unambiguous.

Qatar Sports Investments already ran the sporting operation. Qatar Sports Investments now owns the club outright.

For Paris Saint-Germain supporters the deal is a footnote. For KAS Eupen it is the latest chapter in a 14-year Qatari relationship.
