Southern Governors’ Forum meeting in Ogun State will discuss security, economic cooperation, and collaboration with traditional rulers

IPERU, Ogun State, 26 November 2025 — The Southern Governors’ Forum is set to convene on Wednesday at the residence of Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun in Iperu to discuss key national and regional issues.

The meeting, scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., was confirmed in a statement by the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to Governor Abiodun, Kayode Akinmade.

A joint session with the Southern Traditional Rulers Council will follow at 1 p.m., aimed at strengthening collaboration between political leaders and traditional institutions on matters of shared concern.

Ahead of the gathering, Governor Abiodun welcomed participating governors and traditional rulers, describing their presence as an opportunity to align expectations and foster constructive dialogue.

“As we prepare to host the Southern Governors’ Forum meeting today, we were pleased to receive some of the distinguished attendees, particularly traditional rulers and respected leaders from across the southern region,” Abiodun said in a post on X.

He added, “We value the presence of our royal fathers and regional leaders, whose wisdom and guidance continue to enrich our processes.

As host, we remain committed to creating an atmosphere that encourages honest dialogue and fosters stronger collaboration among all stakeholders as we work together for the peace, stability, and development of our region and country by extension.”

The forum is expected to address critical issues, including regional security, economic cooperation, and other pressing challenges affecting the southern states.
