Also joining the camp is KRC Genk defender Christian Akpan, who has earned his first-ever invitation to the Super Eagles following late withdrawals from the initial squad list.

The relatively unknown defender in Nigerian football circles will be hoping to make his senior debut when Nigeria face Portugal in the highly anticipated friendly encounter.

The squad has also been boosted by the expected arrival of winger Samuel Chukwueze, who is set to join his teammates in camp on Friday.

Chukwueze was unavailable for recent international fixtures, including the Unity Cup in London and the friendly against Poland, following the passing and burial of his mother.

In a related development, Pisa forward Rafiu Durosinmi has been granted permission to temporarily leave camp due to urgent personal matters.

Nigeria’s squad remains active in preparation, with 19 players already travelling from Warsaw to Lisbon following their last international outing against Poland.
