The 22-year-old Nigerian joined Palace on loan from Getafe with an option to make the move permanent for €15m, contingent on starting 10 Premier League matches.

Uche has struggled to make an impact at Selhurst Park, failing to reach the required number of starts for a mandatory transfer.

Reports indicated that Palace considered offloading the midfielder during the January transfer window after a difficult start to life in the Premier League.

Uche was also omitted from the club’s UEFA Europa League squad to accommodate new signings Brennan Johnson, Jorgen Strand Larsen, and Evann Guessand.

Before his omission, Uche had recorded two goals and one assist in four Europa League appearances, while his Premier League minutes totalled 173 across 14 substitute appearances.

Returning to Getafe could also prove complicated due to the Spanish club’s large squad and salary-cap pressures, which may force them to offload players to accommodate him.

If a permanent deal with Palace is not renegotiated, Getafe may look to sell Uche quickly to another club or renegotiate a lower transfer fee with Crystal Palace than the original €15m agreement.
